Re: neil robinson caught in beijing

I think maybe I jumped on my "soap-box" with the DTLLs a bit quickly

Although I don't think it hurts for an ESOL teacher to get the best qualifications that he/she could have, because this would mean that his/her students would benefit far more.

Plus if a person has pedo tendencies, then I think that during his/her journey from PTLLS to DTLLS then they might be spotted for what they are before he/she goes on to hurt anyone.

Mike,

I agree on the crb.

If the insistence was on the uk quals being implemented there would not be any brit ft qualified to teach in China. You are on the right path but crb and degree and tefl should be a minimum, just my wu mao.

Thanks for your post,
SMGS

Re: neil robinson caught in beijing

I think teachers with nothing to cover up will have nothing to fear from supplying back ground checks like Enhanced CRB/DBS certificates. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service/about

In fact I think that a clear CRB/DEBS should be an integral part of any visa application and that the Enhanced CRB/DBS should only be at maximum three months old, therefore I think that there should be a change in UK too to allow private citizens to apply for the Enhanced DBS. Perhaps the UK DBS Agency could also create "Supplemental DBS Certificates" every six months and that ALL UK teachers should have these as part of their membership of the IFS

Next suggestion would be for overseas authorities to only accept UK teachers with DTLLS http://www.cityandguilds.com/Courses-and-Qualifications/learning/teaching/7305-teaching-in-the-lifelong-learning-sector-dtlls coupled with membership of the IFS http://www.ifslearning.ac.uk/

Closure of all Teacher Recruitment Agencies and TEFL/TESOL certificate mills would also be considered.

I found the statements on page 2 of the link rather telling about Chinese Agencies, perhaps the authorities there will begin to wake up now.

And if chummy has done anything over there then I hope that Chinese Plod have the first, because that won't be much fun.

Think UK teachers in Beijing will have to look sharp from now on!!

We will have to check with Foxy but i think they have misspelled- it's PAEDOPHILE. Foxy is right, you wouldn't catch him saying I'm going to nip into The Bell for a swift draft(draught) of bitter. Am I right or am I right? This is bad news for the freedom of FT's.
