I would say Taizhou is a very crummy place to live.
I'd agree but I think it depends on which part. Linhai is a nice enough place. But going in you know it is not hangzhou or shanghai so what do you expect? I think FT's need to make the appropriate "attitude adjustment" when it comes to moving to more rural, and smaller, chinese cities. BTW, Taizhou is not small, very large in fact.
Look out for some schools in Taizhou rightnow. One example is Taizhou Bilingual school which is tied in to Taizhou Global English school. They are looking for teachers right now, It is not needful for me to go into details as a quick search on this site will reveal that these particular schools in Taizhou are not who they say they are. And as someone who has lived both in Taizhou and in Northern China in Taiyuan I would say Taizhou is a very crummy place to live.
