Certainly, Australia is a western country and cannot be considered to be inferior to other western countries if you are just speaking on a generalizing basis. I have not been there but I would like to go someday. I do know however that the massive immigration from some developing countries may have changed the cultural outlook in some cities, but maybe not so much. I love the slang.

They do whatever it takes to survive. And they are not extinct like their beloved Tasmanian tiger (sadly for the T. tiger).
UK-Europe not better than them, US-Canada not better than them, Asia way to uncivilized to be compared with them. The rest of Oceania, no worth comparing.
Stop being defensive. Australia is a great country, but please STOP pushing it so hard at every opportunity. It looks like Aussies feel inferior to white people from other countries and that make them angry.
