Fair enough, I actually like that camaraderie BUT there is back biting and sniping in workplaces in the west too.

Also when it comes to sleazy stuff with your boss in any country, general ettiquette dictates that he should actually be a proper mate outside work (Chinese bosses usually never are), also he should really be as at much risk of the repercussions as you. It should be a lad’s night out thing, not a guanxi thing.
