I just sent my whole month salary the other day, 8000 rmb, visa Western Union at the ABC bank. Western Union usually has offices in the bigger banks. It was not a bank to bank though, but it should be possible. The only thing new than what I did a while ago, before the new laws, is now your employer has a paper with you name, passport number, and stamp saying basically "We paid him this money."
You might need that from your Employer. If you have a trusted Chinese friend, ask them to do a bank transfer ;)

Just want a quick but reliable information before taking a teaching position in China.
I heard a few times in the past that it was impossible to send back more than 33.3% of the monthly salary from China to Canada.
