This is true. I know a under the thumb and totally p***y whipped older American man with a wife from poor rural guangdong. On buying their new apartment, she insisted on a pillow for the bed at 800 rmb, even he told me (over beer!) he could not accept this...yet he still bought it for her. She has him totally under his control, and he has nothing back in the USA, and he is almost 60...I actually feel somewhat sorry for him, but you make your bed, you lay in it, so to speak.....
