Re police checks in China?

Exactly. Criminal record checks, for example, cannot perhaps prevent ALL Western low-live pedophiles from teaching kids in China, but it could prevent many from doing so.

I'll knock China when it does stupid things, but this is just common sense

Re police checks in China?

Even though the Criminal Background Check is a requirement in 1st tiered cities of China, some provinces do not require it in order for you to get a visa.

I know of a few teachers with DUI's in their home country and of course this would mean they have a criminal record.

But c'mon... they most likely won't drive in China so why would that matter?

Re police checks in China?

Police background checks were part of the visa policy revisions that came into effect last July/September. It's really a smart move for a country to do...make sure that foreign citizens that it allows inside to teach its children aren't criminals. I'll knock China when it does stupid things, but this is just common sense. A pain in the ass if you are applying for a visa, but common sense.

police checks in China?

I've come across recently schools asking for police background checks for visas in China? What the hell? Is this for real?
