Re: Re China's Century?

Those are the kinds of responses that these threads need, responses with at least half-arsed attempts at providing figures or references to articles.

But from the wumaos you just get this crap... A front cover of newsweek from 2005.

http://www.eslteachersboard.com/webbbs/images/forum/picjao246.jpg - *The mods don't seem to allow you to embed images with html in the new design, you have to mess around uploading stuff, that really sucks.

I have scanned through an article relating to that Newsweek cover, it will be interesting to read again and compare the predictions from 2005 to the results - http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/newsweek-cover-chinas-century-54207442.html.

Sure, there is the great coincidence that China has actually got on to the cover of the May 9th edition for 2014 apparently and here's the article titled 'Lessons From the World's Best Public School' - http://www.newsweek.com/2014/05/09/shanghai-high-confidential-249224.html - I have just a quick little browse of that too and not everything is positive, rote learning methods are heavily criticized for example. Nobody trusts that PISA test anyway, lol.

If the wumaos really want to get people talking about China in a positive way, why don't they discuss the contents of the article? What they are really doing is the modern day equivalent of writing 'CHINA RULEZ OK?' on the walls of the school toilets with a permanent marker that they stole from their teacher's desk. If that is all that they can really provide in terms of their online propaganda efforts, whatever bureau is in charge of that campaign needs to fire those guys, lol. They are the most useless wumaos ever.
