1. Best bet, yes they would. Cut them off.

2. Yes. The more the better.

3. Unlikely but possible. Email every single school you can find and ask for a job in the CALL lab - making sure you've got some kind of knowledge of CALL beforehand - and maybe one will bite.

Dreadlocks, ESL, Computers...? - Teachers discussion

Hi,
My wife and I are looking at teaching overseas. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English. I have a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration. We were both in the Peace Corps, so we have lived overseas. She is currently a preschool teacher and I am a teacher's assistant at an elementary school.

I have a couple of questions:
1.) I have dreadlocks that I tie back when at work. Would these be a problem for teaching in say South Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, South America, etc.?

2.) Since we have bachelor degrees and some experience working in schools, should we still get a TEFL cert?

3.) Is it possible for me get a job as like a computer teacher/instructor at a school overseas?

Any advice/tips/input greatly appreciated...

peace.
