Re Changing careers

There really is a jaundiced view of 'education' on this Forum which I detest because it comes from some people who have never been employed in their own country as educators but seem to have the answer for everything.

You certainly choose interesting terms. But I do not think we should open up the whole "real educator" can again, as we saw where that leads with Beth, SB, turnoi and others a month or so back, it's like two dogs comparing the fleas that are biting them, a fruitless exercise.

They shout, cajole, bully and posture about these things as if what they say has any relevance.

Actually, I have found professors in the UK and in HK to be the ones who are very arrogant, along with another academic in China who knew about theatre studies. One UK professor who was in Shenzhen for a visit, told me that 9/11 was a good thing and how he supported socialism. When I pointed out that he had started his own business in China (a capitalist country) he did not like that fact. The ones that bleat loudest about things being unfair, are often the biggest hypocrites imho.Easy to bleat about socialism from a two up two down in yorkshire with a guaranteed pension, while wearing a suit in China and being treated to free dinners, hotels and KTV's. China seems to attract the worst kind of westerners unfortunately, both educated AND uneducated.

Sure, we know for example in China that the system is flawed but China is only one example.

Good point. So let's hear about Taiwan, Vietnam and anywhere but China. This is what a lot of us are looking for actually!!!

Happy 2015!!
