Re The golden days

Another problem are your ill-written posts with a
lot of Chinglish in them.

Now that's definitely worth an ironic laugh. Undebatable.

Your input mostly consists of pure rants. Another problem are your ill-written posts with a lot of Chinglish in them. There is no debate.

While your blanket is not far from the truth, you don't seem aware of the masses of innocent get what they are only offered in sense of education.

Re The golden days

You appear conceited and ill-mannered with the taunting reminder and suggestion that I "rant". Forums are for debates which you don't seem to be able to handle well.

I Wrote:
Since large corporations took over, a lot's truly become different. Western politicians listen to CEOs more than before while Russians and Chinese still follow their leaders.

Gautama Replied:
They "follow" their leaders there because their political system is still autocratic enough to make following their leaders when they are told to do so. Remember that democracy according to the Western model is not intended to be paradise and perfect; it's just a framework to address serious issues that concern society at large. The outcome depends on what people make of it. Ranting on boards like this one doesn't change anything.

Re The golden days

Since large corporations took over, a lot's truly become different. Western politicians listen to CEOs more than before while Russians and Chinese still follow their leaders. So, what's changed is the western democracy that can be bought today. This is how our world has turned over which is the challenge not to complain about but to observe and act (and post on the board) accordingly.

The era of the "golden days" that you describe (were they really so "golden"?) are long gone by, and we are facing new political challenges these days that concern all of us. Because the world is changing, our lives and working and social conditions are changing. Our main task when facing such new challenges is to decide what our answer will be to them. Complaining that the "golden days" have gone is pretty useless then.

You sound like the old grandpa who complains that everything is so bad today in comparison to the "good old days". Re The golden days

Our "golden days" come with the whole nine yards of everyone's life, so we shouldn't lack considerations.

SB talks about his own "golden days" as a model and not about politics as you do.
In that respect, your post here is entirely off-topic.
We're entitled to our opinions.

The challenges that the world is facing today, btw, do not come from Europe but from the
islamo-arabic part of this world with its political and social instability there and
islamistic terrorism as result. The other real political crisis that puts world peace at
risk is the madman in Pyongyang and the power games that the associated powers (China,
Russia, USA) are involved in.
The "islamo-arabic part of the world" neither plays a major role in GWP (Gross World Product) nor it influences economies of major player nations except the example of Saudi Arabia (about 20th economy in rankings) that mostly depends on its oil exports. Politically, those nations in the region are peanuts to the ones in EU and eastern Asia (except poor North Korea) which is why I disagree with you. All in all, the major wars in recent about thousand years history of world have come from political and economic instabilities in EU and expensionism of Japanese and Chinese empires.

What I concur here on is the "terrorism" that has truly been branded before as freedom fighting. The radical, who assasinated Archduke Franz prior to WW1, fit such a profile. The event caused unprecedented misery on Earth and produced an Austrian soldier (Hitler) who eventually began the WW2. So, conflicts in wrong places catalyse faster than in places accustomed to actions and reactions.

As for the topic, I see the golden days as days when people, who aren't used to violence, live in right places. Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong or Saddam Hussein, in their nations, may have abused and taken lives of many people; however, they really have not ruined the world to such extent as some others have. In my opinion, 1950s and 1960s were the golden days for North Americans, Western Europeans and even some Eastern Europeans while quite a few other nations around the world were satisfied as well. My view of 1970s and 1980s is that they were not much different except that the US with the innitiative of Nixon adjusted the course in which the western powers moved forward. The petro dollar and acceleration in anti-communist campaigns set the tone to the eventual fall of the iron curtain that held the world in tact. Since fine folks in regions where economies are strong are quietly displaced and since they are in wrong places, they are the dangerous catalysis which may sadly accelerate the chain reaction of similar proportions as before.

In summary, what the golden days are for one may be dark days for the other. Whether all of us learn to enjoy the golden days together selflessly remains to be seen.

Re The golden days

The great days were, when the iron curtain split communist nations from the west which was a couple years before 1991. World was well balanced, it had politicians with clear scopes. People in the west and east lived their lives then which is unlike today when the confusion rises over who has more fire power or juristiction over lands and how business is supposed to be conducted around the world. Then, even though our planet seemed to have been split into east vs west, it was not as broken as today when the giant crack over middle east through Turkey, Ukraine and Baltic nations is frightening. As mother Earth turns around money, Asian market stands out versus the EU-North American one which is why politicians are burning their bridges with others. The secretive Trump-Putin structure is built on false pretenses, poor ethical standards and on the grounds to undermine the American system. One money hungry man is unaware of what the world of politics is while the other cunning one is highly experienced and extremely frustrated with the 1990 outcome. So, "the golden days" when the map showed East and West Germany were so much more clear and peaceful than today. Whether Trump's actions and his bad mouth set foundation to the new Nazi era in Germany or whether his confused generals or WH officials pull the wrong triggers remains to be worried about.
