They "follow" their leaders there because their political system is still autocratic enough to make following their leaders when they are told to do so. Remember that democracy according to the Western model is not intended to be paradise and perfect; it's just a framework to address serious issues that concern society at large.The outcome depends on what people make of it. Ranting on boards like this one doesn't change anything.
