No, certainly NOT! Ian Smith was the type of colonial ruler that nobody wants and needs. The incompetence of certain African corrupt and despotic leaders cannot be played and used against freedom and independence from colonialism. The values of a decent political and democratic political leadership must be given time in a culture to grow and do not come over night. They develop in a gradual process over decades and centuries as they did in the West. It's now hgh time that the beginning of such a process is being given a real and fair chance in Zimbabwe!God bless Africa!

I see that Ian Smith dies in 2007. It might be nice if one of Rhodesia's biggest land-owners would consider leading the country for a few years to get the place back on its feet. Hoogy, his friends call him.

Well, don't want to say this but Ian Smith did warn the world of what's happened in Rhodesia. He said they were not up to leadership. Is Smith still alive? If so he should be brought back maybe.
