Recently a new spate of websites have popped up offering to "place" teachers in schools. One of these is hiredinchina.org. On the hic website click on the "teaching positions" link and you will come to a page listing endless offers all over China. One of our "teachers" clicked on several and filled out the pop up box asking for contact info. In a day or two "Luke G Parker" sent us an email giving more contact options. We searched him on Wechat with his ID of LukeGParker and the next day about 4am we received a message back to add him. What's odd about this is on the website he claims to be located in Hongzhou. The time zone for Hongzhou is +11 hours from the east coast of America. This contact time would indicate that he's located in the west rather than mainland China. Also odd is after initially responding to his contact in Wechat it took him seven hours to respond. We never had a phone conversation only the chat messages. When we asked him where he was located he insisted he was in China. While we responded to several schools on the website on different days he was the only contact we received. Our teacher never received a contact from a school directly or an offer. Recently LukeGParker has disappeared from Wechat. When we researched Luke G Parker we could only find obits or conflicting information. We ran a domain search and there's no name listed as owner and the location of the business is Beijing. Our conclusion is that "Parker" is using the hic website to collect personal information and sell it to schools in China. We also believe that he's the only operator and has no partners or employees. We do not advise using this website for attempting to secure work and under no circumstances give your personal information.
