Worry not! You will neither be blacklisted nor prosecuted. However, it will leave a bad impression - if you can live with that, no problem. However, if you can tell your employer upfront (I know that is difficult and perhaps, undesirable) or find them a replacement you will be on firmer ground. I'd suggest you look for placement at a state-run university. They are friendlier and more reasonable. I've been here two and a half years and have had the honour of working at both kinds (state-owned and managed and the private ones). Moreover, state-run universities offer better accomodation and facilities, generally. Most importantly, visas, residential permits and the like are processed better, faster and with more transparency at the universities.
Good luck!
