Hi all...have just posted a new siting on this earlier tonight...sorry I didnt add to the thread ... forgive me first time at this...but this is important...please see my entry of 23 September - new
Malcolm McDonald from Japan Placements / Placermernts as the email states emailed 13 pages of positions available in Japan...some schools included Fuji and Oxford - actual names of the schools given in some cases!!!????
The advertisement was initially spotted through EDU TESOL. I am in the process of gathering as much info as possible (need more proof) to pass onto Japanese authorities (have appropriate contacts)...any help in return is appreciated....need more proof.
Thanks

Re: warning: David Bain IS PAUL ADLER

The weasel even manages to get away with it using the same email messages under a different name.

Re: warning: David Bain IS PAUL ADLER

Hey there,

Thanks for the input guys. Here's the followup letter he sent me which confirms to me that he is Adler:

"Chris,
The fees must be paid prior to the processing of your work visa. The problem being that many people say they will pay and say they will go - but end up not doing so and costing us a lot of time and money. Once we can confirm your acceptance of the deal and your signing and sending the contract along with necessary papers for the visa - we will give you directions on how to pay the processing fees. Thank you for your concern. We'll be in touch as soon as we receive confirmation from you.

Sincerely, David Bain - Placement Coordinator - Japan Placements

warning: David Bain IS PAUL ADLER

Chris,

Please be warned that the communication sent by "David Bain" sounds suspiciously with that sent by Paul Adler. Bain and Adler are probably one and the same.

Do NOT send him anything. He will "hostage" your documents, sell them in a black market perhaps, if you refuse to pay the "cancellation fee."

Japan schools hire directly. Contact them yourself.

Chris,

As this person is using a Post Office Mailing Box, and the fact that this post office is close to the address of the other scammer Paul Adler, I would definately think twice or more.

As a recruiter in Thailand, I have considered going into the Japanese market, but as there are so many people wanting to go there the schools don't need to use recruiters to get teachers. Also the Japanese consulate will not issue a visa on a photocopied passport, only in the original.

Re: Is this on the level?

I wouldn't send anything to Thailand unless I was looking for a job IN Thailand. And then I probably wouldn't mail anything either, I'd try and go there myself. Not that I know this guy, but I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

Is this on the level?

I have read a lot of messages from people who have been burned by a scammer lately. I am writing to post an email to see if these guys are on the level. I think there may be something fishy because he sounds a bit like the guy you have been talking about:

"Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to read over the contract and verification of acceptance. An early September start date appears reasonable.

Further instructions for processing are --

Please sign the contract and return to the address below. We will need the signed contract, your University diploma ( either the original or a properly certified copy - originals avoid many recurring complications with issuance of work visas - FYI - but up to you - as we are aware that many applicants have problems in sending their originals) and other qualifying certificates, copy of passport, printed copy of CV ( resume ) and 4 passport size colour photos. It is important that this is taken care of and sent via courier and verified to us - ASAP or your position may be given to another applicant.

Is this guy legit or a scammer? I'm a bit worried about what I may be getting myself into. Thanks!
