I agree with what you're saying. But not all of the history of that time has been related truthfully. During the late 1800's up to the early 1900's the U.S. was still trying colonize parts of asia (Philippines, Guam) to control parts of that world and the resources there. The source of this information is interviews with retired Australian military, Philippine historians, reading, and the History Channel. Remember up to I think the 1980's American history textbooks were heavily slanted toward the United States. I don't want to get into a debate.
