There are only five things prospective employers need to offer you a teaching position, send you a sample contract, or initiate paperwork for a teaching post in China. They are:

1. Up to date CV or resume.
2. Head shot pic.
3. Copy of passport main page with passport number and bottom characters blocked out. This can be done easily with PAINT. All they need to see is that you have a valid passport and most want to know your birth date. DO NOT SEND YOUR PASSPORT NUMBER FOR ANY REASON. There are a great number of passport scams around the world.
4. Copies of diplomas or certificates.
5. Current copy of police record.
6. Letter(s) of recommendation. Make sure there's contact information available. Most will not ask for this.

The next things are necessary only if you've been working in China:
7. Copy of Z visa page.
8. Copy of residency permit page.
9. Copy of Expert Certification.
10. Copy of entrance stamp page from immigration when you entered the country.
11. Letter of Release from the school. Must be from the school with stamp.
12. Copy of cancellation of Expert Certification from the school.

Anything else is superfluous, unnecessary, or a waste of time. AFTER you've been sent a SIGNED, STAMPED, contract to sign and initial then you will need to give out complete information.

IMPORTANT: If you've signed a contract but have not gotten the Z visa sticker you can walk away from the employer with no harm or threat to yourself. If you've completed the visa and residency permit process they can make your life difficult only in China if you leave them and decide to continue living and working there.
