In response to Re Is religion really "opium for the people"? (ExpatMcGee)

ExpatMcGee, it's funny how this religion issue keeps perpetuating itself on these boards, which are meant to be about ESL, it's also amazing how much china crops up regularly.

I am with SB let us hear about teachers in other places than China who are enjoying themselves.

This is an awkward statement about languages. Yes, they translated the bible into the native language. Okay. Well... thats certainly nice of them. Its not like they were Muslims who require the converts to learn Arabic which had impacts on culture etc.

I remember Mel Gibson caused some uproar when the Passion of the Christ was released, and Aramaic was used in the movie. Christians don't require born agains/converts to learn Aramaic or Hebrew which is arguably the language at the time of the old testament...or should they???
