A few million HK citizens against a billion and a half brainwashed mainlanders with their authoritarian leadership is quite a view. There are more communist party members on mainland than people in Hong Kong; so, there is only one choice and a possible labor camp for the ones who decide otherwise.

Had HK not been taken by Brits before, there wouldn't have been anything to decide on today. All HK citizens would have been of the same opinion as mainlanders and the HK communist party would have been the only party running the city. Moreover, there wouldn't have been any such book shops that would criticize the leadership as all would have been "well educated" in their schools.

This is not about the "western perspective" but about how the basic human rights are ignored for obvious reasons. Not allowing people to read varieties of voices and to have more opinions than one is simply despicable.
