In response to Hasty generalization? - Teachers Discussion (Rheno747)
I agree completely with Rheno.
Holding a certificate doesn't always translate into being a better teacher. I've known great teachers with no cert. I've known certified teachers (some with the expensive name brand certs) who couldn't find their own butts using both hands. It seems to be more a function of personal qualities and education than anything else.
And don't believe that schools requring teachers to have a cert will necessarily offer better pay, better treatment, better conditions, or higher academic standards. It just ain't so...far from it. Requiring certifications is often more a function of ass-coverage than an assurance of quality.
