On the other hand, serving
students and seeing them mature or grow due to a decent teacher's hard and honest work
is also a type of success. It just depends on one's personal perspective.

Yes Doc, you are spot on!

I think it's too common that we, as a society, measure success solely by a person's wealth.

Success comes in many forms.

I became a teacher for many reasons - none of which included the hope of becoming wealthy. I became a teacher because I wanted the chance to give something back to society. I wanted to give some of the things back that 50 years on this planet had given me.

We bring nothing into this world, and we take nothing out of it. To me, success means leaving this world just a little bit better than how it was when I arrived.

If my time on this planet proves to be beneficial to even one individual, then I consider my life to be successful.

Enriching lives is just as important as enriching one's bank account.

And NO! - I've not gone all 'warm-and-fuzzy' on you - I'm just trying to put things in perspective. There's no point in becoming the richest person in the cemetery !

And a second NO! (Mr Training-centre owner), that doesn't mean I will teach your students for free!
