That's the case for most of us. We may try to do things to make our lives more exciting; but once a foreigner has passed the tourist newbie stage of cultural adaptation, it really is just a job. I'd advise all new teachers to avoid falling into that trap in this industry; or even just in life in general.

As for myself, I spend 24 hours a day living with that guy, I'd rather talk about something else!
