As far as the coats are concerned, you still have a lot to learn about China. You see, there's a little man who lives in the TV. What he does is constantly look at the calendar, and then four times a year he pops up and tells Chinese people what they should be wearing/not wearing.
Weather in China is not governed by what's happening outside, it's governed by a date in the calendar. If it's summer today, then wear summer clothes; but if it's Autumn tomorrow, you'd better put your summer clothes away and wear autumn clothes tomorrow - because the calendar says so!
