Thailand is the place to go for authentic Western cuisine. Bangkok leaves Shanghai or any Chinese city for dead in this regard.
I know blokes in Nanning who would go to Pattaya for a week just to get real Western dishes. And for the girls of course!

Hong Kong has always been good, but too expensive.

I can cook authentic Western cuisine myself. So can my wife, and she can cook authentic Chinese cuisine too. I can have the best of both worlds in a culinary sense without fear of consuming dirty food cooked by others.

That's good enough for me. I'm not suggesting it would be for you.
