Jam is too dear here too. It's not imported. Avoid buying it. A small jar of jam costs 5.8 rmb! Almost the same price as 2 large bottles of beer! Marmelade is equally as dear.
It's prohibitive. But help could be at hand- if foxy poster can make Melton-wotsits pork pies he can come up with a jam or marmalade recipe. Get him on the case!

Well, I have carefully counted the bottle caps and bottles and removed the evidence before she returns. I have to be careful and not remove another days bottles otherwise she will smell a rat.

A good alternative to very small jars of jam/marmalade that are overpriced and too sweet, imo, see below:

Some street markets sell haw(thorne) berry fruit rolls. They are much cheaper than Chinese jam, but rather sour-tasting. Anyway, you can add some sugsr and eat them with bread/toast.
