Dogs have nothing to do with your argument about children, you just brought that in because your wife is scared of dogs I think. Not all dogs are kept to scare people, or as status type dogs. What about the blind who depend on them, or will you and your wife volunteer your time with the blind in the UK instead of someone having a guide dog, perhaps even take a blind stranger into your home?
