Christmas is a bloody
miserable time of year for your average piss poor FT in China, but that is just my
opinion. And if you are in a bumf**k 3rd tier city, I doubt you could get turkey
anywhere anyway. I have only seen turkeys to buy in supermarkets in H.K., presumably
they can be ordered online in China, but not too sure, I never bothered, I slept almost
every christmas day or just watched movies while drinking, each to their own though.
I don't want to sound arrogant, but any 'piss poor FT in China' who IS 'piss poor', only has himself to blame.
I drink like a fish; smoke like a chimney; cook at home; have a decent quality of life, all for less than RMB500 a week!
6.5 kilo Turkey was RMB349 from TaoBao. They are available in 'Metro' at RMB65 for 500g (rip-off!). A decent-sized benchtop oven can be bought for around RMB300 so there's really no 'excuse' IMHO. You could do the whole Christmas 'thing' at home quite easily and fairly cheaply.
Those who choose to sleep, eat noodles, watch movies all day while drinking, and feel like shit because they are missing their families, well, Happy Christmas to you guy too!
