I want to thank the writers of the following for providing me with excellent material to include in my next lesson and/or quiz on error correction. Actually, I thought I may have to peruse many posts from the archives to come up with the necessary amount of errors, but lo and behold, it only took a few. Well, ok, more than just a few, but certainly not many.
So, thank you teachers for your unsolicited help. Please keep up the good work my students really appreciate your efforts.
Class: Please correct the following sentences. You will find general usage mistakes, spelling errors, punctuation errors and occasional blither blather that makes absolutely no sense at all. Feel free to indicate the blither blather in any way that you feel is appropriate. Hint: There are a few sentences here that are seemingly correct; however, they are obviously written in haste and without the realization that they would be read by English teachers. Please rewrite those sentences in a manner that is more clear and/or concise.
.whatever they wrote was not in line what someone MUST know when working as a foreign teacher in China!
If in doubt, question them and ask questions.
But as a rule this is an exception.
The more foreign teachers with a degree are looking for a job in China with its still huge demand for foreign teachers, the more competition will there be.
..assume you must be Chinese because you seem to absolutely unacquainted with the needs of foreign teachers to transmit parts of their salary home.
please give me the insight of this school we are very excited but know there are some drawbacks
Although the schools are hard to get into.
Please contact me on how to start this exciting career.
If you are interest please email me and I will give the email address of the person in charge of hiring.
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to the general cost of living in Shanghai, relative to the salaries there.
Anyone willing to divulge how much they spend on living expeses
Ever read the many stories about recruiters cheating and and telling lies on this Board and somewhere else?
WE DO NOT NEED YOU, THE HONEST SCHOOLD DO NOT NEED YOU, AND YOU KIND OF PEOPLE ARE NOT VERY POPULAR AND WELCOME HERE!
If you had a bit of experience of living in China and knew how bad recruiters and bad school management turn on you to know everything about you, not respecting your privacy, and with the information they may get to use against you --- then you would probably understand the concerns.
Watch out, or you may be tricked in!
.they are a crap school chain, all they want is to make money and know nothing, nothing at all about education!
.......it seems like a lot of the people here at the bored have worked at a lot of the EF places.
End of quiz.
Kudos to the writer of the following post; the best Ive seen in months. Brief and flawless.
"Cash. Once a month. In an envelope. Count it. Twice."
Now, lest I be accused of being the pot calling the kettle black, or, as they say in China, the raven calling the black pig black, Ill admit that I find the occasional error in my posts also. Yeah, were all human and therefore prone to error. But come on people! Its almost embarrassing to read some of these posts. As I and others have noted in the past, this forum is often read by ESL/EFL students. If you havent got the time to proofread your posts, perhaps your time would be better spent elsewhere. Like, for example, with your nose in an English grammar book
On a lighter note, I think the use of the word crap has reached its zenith recently; therefore, my compliments to Fish for the most creative and pleasant use of a not so pleasant word.
For more interesting reading on the subject of crap, please see the post that follows this one.
