Like I wrote a couple of times here, I find marriage to be an outdated institution for most people (not all, but look at the divorce rates).

I think maybe marriage came far ahead of its time for most of us. I mean, the further we go back the more we are related to dumb beasts. We've still barely learned yet not to eat each other, not to beat the wife because she is usually smaller- not to have sex with anything in a skirt even if we have to hand over cash at time of service- even to buy a wife by buying her expensive necklaces and so on. Hopefully we will continue advancing and there's been indications that we will:we don't imprison gays now (muslims might) and stop women from voting, so marriage far from being outdated is very much a thing for the future and our hope for the future. Meanwhile we have to keep trying to improve marriages, the opposite would be disastrous.
