Thanks for taking the time to present a balanced viewpoint by wading through the flood of material you've provided us here.

I think the most telling aspect of what you have related in this forum is that the phenomenon of "brain drain" is universal - not something confined to China and therefore does not suggest a "truth" or support an argument that Chinese are so disgusted with their own country that they must flee to America or elsewhere. I also find it very interesting that AnnaLee Saxenian has approached it from a different viewpoint by calling it "brain circulation."

At any rate, your post clearly illustrates that "brain drain/circulation" is cyclical and that it speaks more to the mobile nature of human society as a whole; therefore, it cannot be used as an argument to substantiate the broad based claim that the Chinese people would, if given the opportunity, flock to the coast lines waiting for the next boat to rush them out of here.

Those of you who wish to validate the above claim will have to come up with a much better argument.
