I have been offered a job at the China University of Petroleum,
www.cup.edu.cn , in Beijing. Theoretically this is 14 class hours weekly for teaching writing and speaking. The airfare and apartment are paid for but the stated pay seems low for university level, 65000 rmb.I have a 2005 MA in linguistics and many years of experience prior to it working with professionals and graduate students in US and Korea, so what would my status be? -- I've heard something about designations such as "foreign expert" etc.
I am wondering if anyone has experience teaching at university level, whether this is an appropriate salary or if it's negotiable, and any other advice or expectations I should have?
Help! I really want to work in China, but I want to do it right and if there are better paying jobs, I want one!
In general, how would one go about seeking work in universities (only) in China?
Help! Heeelp!
