I just got here. I've only skimmed this site, so if I commit an awful faux pas, please forgive me.
I chair a tiny ESL dep't in a large suburban high school near Los Angeles. I'm looking for short-term (3-5 days) professional development opportunities: conferences, institutes, seminars, what have you, in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, or Guatemala. Ideally this would combine brief but intensive learning/practice with lots of time for exploring and meeting congenial people. The best time would be this coming winter, but summer 09 is ok too.
Paradise, brain food, and a nice tax deduction: is it too much to ask?
