I would like you to comment on the following methodolgy of teaching vocab:

There are 30 new words for each unit.

- Students' books closed.
- Teacher reads out the words( each word twice) while the students listen.
- When done with the list of words, the teacher restars reading the words, having the students repeat each word after her in chorus, spot checks are done, too.
-Teacher asks students to open their books, reads each word once again, giving extra explanation.

I rather find this a burdensome task to both the teacher and students. Could you comment and give me new ideas to refine this method?
