Hi, fellow teachers,

After another exhausting, yet tiring week of teaching, I thought that it would be good if we shared our thoughts on being teachers, as ours is a very satisfying, and worthwhile, yet often, criticized profession. I hope that many of you will contribute. I'll start the ball rolling with the following three thoughts:-

Teaching is...

1. ...something you think you can't do because no matter how hard you try, you find that you are the antithesis of what a good teacher is. Yet, somehow you keep hanging on, working at it, hoping and believing that things will come good.

2. ...working hard all week and having lessons that totally engaged students, who were very active, energized and focused on learning, yet you go home believing that what you taught was a pile of dung.

3. ...something you don't start to even BEGIN doing until you've been working in classrooms for THIRTY YEARS.
