I am currently teaching in a rich city in China, but I have a passion for rural China. I know there are plenty of jobs to be had at rural schools, but I don't know of any good agencies or companies that will support foreigners in rural areas. I have looked at Buckland and as far as what they offer, it seems perfect, but there is lots of controversy surrounding it, so I don't want to try it. Are there any others like it? My dream would be to live somewhere in a rural village or near a rural village, work at a college or high school and be able to volunteer at orphanages or poor schools in my free time--places where the children would never have the opportunity to talk to a foreigner. Feel free to email me if you have any information, or if you have done it yourself. I am also a Christian, so if there was a Christian community doing such a thing in rural China, I would be interested as well.
