I've been in Shenzhen for only a month and a half but from what I've seen things are tough here. I've been in China for almost six years altogether and have never had even a little trouble finding a job. I'm walking into kindergartens here in SZ and seeing that they already have 4, 5 or 6 foreign teachers. Walking around I rarely go more than a few minutes without encountering another foreigner. Lots of folks who originally came here to "do business" are turning to English teaching to pay the bills now that the economy is down. And we won't even get into new arrivals who can't find anything at home and are coming here. For whatever reason Shenzhen has a reputation as the "place to be" for foreigners, especially for the younger, hard-partying set. I'm 50. If you really need a job head to a smaller city with fewer foreigners. That is probably what I'll have to do.
