I think what Turino/Foxxy forgot to ask you was how many classes you would be teaching per week, as well as actual hours. If it is 10 or 12 it's a not a bad deal, if anything more, you should be getting at least 4,500. Did you try and negotiate at all?

Actually,the poster who started this thread did say the job entailed a maximum of 16 lessons a week,which I'd presume to be < 17 teaching periods/teaching hours a week.Each lesson is probably 45 or 50 minutes.
What's more,he mentioned it was a public junior college,which would mean his salary would be set according to his paper qualifications,and because he has never taught in China before,he'd likely not be in a position to negotiate a higher salary.As a newbie FT here,he'd be well advised to accept the terms and conditions of the contract he has been offered.His second post implies he's been offered the standard contract,as its terms are exactly the same as those he states.
