In response to new in the profession (nedira)

Can you share your teaching qualifications or credentials, such as education degree, CELTA or another TEFL certificate?
It sounds as if you have not had a teaching practicum and perhaps this is your first ESL job?
If so, one thing that is important to classroom management is to avoid down time in the room. Always prepare 3 or 4 activities and keep them busy while attending to necessary attendance records at the beginning of class.
If you place a review type assignment on the board (called Bell Work), students will realize that you expect them to begin learning as soon as they are in the classroom.
Forget about the students not wanting to learn English. They obviously do not have a choice.
To sum up, keep the class busy with activities, don't allow down time, and if all else fails base lessons around food!
Hope this helps.
