You can be sure that grub Owen Buckland is involved in some crappy school in Guilin right now, Guilin and Yangshuo are and have always been his turf.

Better to keep away from Guilin and Yangshuo unless you are just a tourist passing through briefly. Like Monitor said, those places are just tourist traps, not my cup of tea. Guilin always attracts the worst types of foreigners and Chinese people ( although the scenery is quite spectacular and beautiful ), just like Pattaya and Phuket in Thailand attract undesirable Thai and Western people.
