In response to Google and China - Exporting your contacts in Gmail into some other application? (Dave)

Try exporting your gmail to Thunderbird 3, free mail client. Download here: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ (an application by the same creators of firefox browser)

Notes:
- You can also export your gmail to MS Outlook (no Outllook Epress).
- No possible with free Yahoo mail. Paid Yahoo mail ok.
