quoting: cunning linguist

" I don't know how widespread the practice of late-payment is in China, so I could not describe it as 'normal', but it must depend on who you work for. I have been at four universities: the first one paid in advance and the other three where always on time. Two of the universities were very flexible in paying ahead of payday, if there were special considerations - for example, travel or some national holidays. In fact, where I work now I have asked for early payment soon after the course finished and I had completed my grading of students. This request has been made and granted several times. "

I was only saying that, from reading things on-line, it seems that it is common practice quite a lot of the time. And that you will have struck lucky to find a place that always pays on time. From what i have read, not from my experiences yet.
