Confucian?? Are you kidding me?? That's a good one. Confucious never advocated making people just book smart and not good at anything else. As far as his influence on China even the most stauch of defenders of modern Chinese culture will acknowledge that he lived in a time where his ideas were important, but not necessarily the best as there were many other thinkers in his time who were just as influential if not more.

I NEVER EVER said that the Chinese society that we're talking about is a Confucian one. Other people may still look for Confucian influences but for me that's not how I look at it. For you to label Chinese society as that and/or for you to assume that I think along those lines shows nothing but your own close mindedness at work, no offense.
