Pouring boiling hot water on a donkey while it is still alive is also uncivilised, and extremely painful for the donkey. The people who do it are sick criminals, there is no excuse whatsoever for this behaviour.

The Chinese need to be held to account for their barbaric treatment to animals. This sort of behaviour is totally unjustfiable and a country that engages in such acts is not "harmonious".

And for some people who say this is an urban myth, NO, it is not. I know for a fact it has happened in Wuhan before, in fact I even recognized one area of Hankou from footage I saw on the internet a few months back. It is not just in Dongbei where this is happening.

Thanks for your reply. But it is not strictly a Chinese practice, more an east asian one, or how do you explain this:

I am sure cows don't really want to drink sake (bai jiu) or beer, do they?

Moving away from Asia, and onto your own nation, this link might be indicative:

I know, I'm being quite Chinese in diverting blame, but really, it's pot calling the kettle black a little, don't you think? Pigs are proven to be as gregarious as dogs, but would one keep a dog in those conditions mentioned on that site?

Granted, Australia's animal welfare is light years ahead of China's (you aussies did inherit the RSPCA, after all, much like the Canadians) but what exactly can one use as a yardstick of bandying about uncivilized and criminals...
