Teaching Adjectives and Adverbs

Dear Dr. Zack,

How can I teach my students the difference between an adjective and an adverb?

Thanks,

Joseph

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for a very good question. I would explain to the students that an adjective modifies a noun (example -blue shirt- blue is the adjective) while an adverb modifies and describes the action for a verb (example -He walks quickly- quickly is the adverb and describes how He walks).
