Maybe you know that the compass is an ancient invention of China, but do you know that there is a fundamental difference between Chinese compasses and Western ones? That difference is that the needle of a Chinese compass points to magnetic south, while as we Westerners know, the needle of a Western compass points to magnetic north. As to why this difference exists, I can't tell you. Can anyone reading this enlighten me in this regard?
