I just wanted to add, cunning linguist, that when it comes to end of contract time, I do put more importance on other considerations rather than asking for an increase in wages, for example "I am off on holiday to Thailand now,will my flat and belongings remain untouched while I'm away? Will you replace my water dispenser with one that cools the water as well as heats it?" "You covered the ghastly tiles in the bedrooms but can i be assured that the lounge will be carpeted upon my return?" (I know it's china but tiles do not suit me at all) and, will I get paid for the forthcoming holiday? In other words, the contract is dated from now. All of that must be included in the new contract.
