Here in China, school bells appear to be gone for good. According to my teaching assistant, the current way of thinking is that playing music to students on the school's public address system during a short break is a good way to fuel students' interest in their upcoming class. Have school bells gone forever from all Chinese educational establishments, just like the use of the tawse was banned in Scottish schools in 1984? Unfortunately I no longer have mine!
