Hi All,

Hope everyone is well

I'm living in Tainan, Taiwan. It's my first time as an ESL teacher and i've been here for just over three months.

Anyway, i've been here that long, but my school still isn't ready/open ( im still getting paid though, yippee!). Because i have so much free time, i have found some work volunteering at a local christian charity which runs a sort of youth club for children.

They have asked me to deliver a 'class' next Wednesday for one and a half hours. They don't really want me to teach english per se; but to help the children get to know a foreigner and to have some fun. They are all at diffenent ages and very different levels of english as well so it would be hard to give them a class.

I thought that i would teach them some english nursery rhymes and also play some games in english, but i was wondering if anyone had any other ideas as to what to do. I don't have a great deal of teaching experience and im not sure how to fill the hour-and-a-half lesson.

I thought that perhaps we could do some arts and crafts to fill the time...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Euan
