Subject: An aid request

Bann Bang Sak School, Petchkasem Road, Moo 8, Bang Moung Sub-District, Tagua Pa District, Phang Nga Province is registered under Phang Nga Educational Department, Basic Educational Committee Office, Ministry of Education. There are 128 students and 7 teachers at this school. A majority of the students resides at village Moo 7 and 8, which comprise of roughly 600 households. These households are adjacent to Bang Sak beach, Andaman Sea, which were damaged. Currently, these households have lost their shelters, clothing, and food. Moreover, some of them have lost their father, mother, relatives, or guardians.

On 26 December 2004 at about 9.45 AM, there were giant tidal waves that hit the shore of the Andaman Sea, causing damages to Bann Bang Sak School that is located 500 meters far from the shore line. The school was entirely damaged, details as follows:

1. Three school buildings (10 learning rooms)

2. The language lab

3. The science lab

4. The computer lab

5. The health office

6. The cafeteria

7. Two lavatory buildings (for 2 stalls)

8. The lavatory building (for 3stalls)

9. The school playground

10. The administrative and bursar office building.

All of the aforementioned areas were completely destroyed, details as per attached photographs of this notice.

Bann Bang Sak School is seeking for donation to the immediate relief efforts and longer term rebuilding process. We need new buildings and teaching materials, details as per attached estimated budget of this notice. The Faculty, students, Bann Bang Sak Educational Committee would like to thank you in advance for your generosity.
